Writing Lyrics….

Lyrics are a difficult thing.  It’s easy, in times of great inspiration, to let the words flow and put some pretty profound statements down on a piece of paper.

Then you look at your catalogue of instrumentals and, you think, “Which of these matches the mood here?”  THEN, the really hard work begins.

Well, I’ve selected a tune to put this to: 11:11 Staring Down 33

Now, here are the rough beginnings.. we’ll see if I can make it fit the music:

VERSE

Clock strikes 11:11 sharp

One minute to recollect

Wishes come untrue

Promises Broken, to himself

Yet always wishing before that next tick

Supersticious are our wishes

That we only habitually consider them at certain times

How many times had he wished

For what he wished

Before Age 30

Only each time, each year, to be denied

CHORUS:

Your ambitions are too aggressive

While you may think the world oppressive, at times

How much could it hurt

To let this wish slide another year, or five.

How sad to waste your time

Wishing, rather than dreaming

Dreaming, rather than achieving

VERSE:

Slide on it did on that spring day

Three days left of 32

At 11:11 sharp he closed his eyes and stared 33 straight down

Though he knew the wish would not materialize this year

He took it upon himself to manifest his desired destiny

And advanced himself further in one year’s time

Than 15 years of wishing had ever

CHORUS:

Your ambitions are too aggressive

While you may think the world oppressive, at times

How much could it hurt

To let this wish slide another year, or five.

How sad to waste your time

Wishing, rather than dreaming

Dreaming, rather than achieving…..
